Hi All
Here is a competition for everyone to enter the National Emerging Artists Award, Acquisitive Award $5, 000, heres the link for the internet http://opps.artabase.net/?p=370

The Lloyd Rees Memorial Youth Art Award is a national bi-annual exhibition and art prize that was officially set-up as an acquisitive prize for the Lane Cove Council in recognition of Lloyd Rees’s great support of the local art community and the special relationship that he had with Lane Cove and Centrehouse Community Art Centre from its inception.

The Award is open to all Australian artists 18 – 28 yrs of age for works in painting, printmaking and drawing. This year’s judges are artist Guy Warren and Glenn Barkley, curator for the Museum of Contemporary Art.

Unfortunatly I cannot enter but you younger YA members can. Good Luck

this week's meeting :)

Hey all,

so we are going to meet this Thursday (the 2nd of June).... Nic is having a show at Art Beat and it's opening that night at 6pm (is that right Nic?) so I was thinking it would be a good idea if we me at 5pm and then went to Nic's, what do people think?

We have decided to meet in Inez's Honours studio (the Von Gerrard space VCA Artschool) as we have been having some teething problems the las few weeks with meeting up. So hopefully that will be easier.

For anyone who hasn't done their popswap, bring that along and there are still a few ideas for projects that people what to air :)

I will post Gui's dvd on the blog, so check that out when you canh and we will discuss it more when we meet!

Also, a reminder..... Remedy is on this week, Wednesday 5pm..... Come along to the Margaret Lawrence Gallery for a great night of performance!!!!...if anyone wants to perform who hasn't yet ligned it up with me, tere's stll time so yell out :)

Alright, that's it for now...

YA facebook group

Hey guys, I've made a facebook group for YA! I thought it might be another good way for us to communicate (updates, group events) and have a presence. So if you have facebook you should join! Here's the link: http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/home.php?sk=group_112206388865295

Oh and I've made it an open group but I think I still have to approve members, does anyone know if there's a way to make it so anyone can join, and I don't have to approve them?

Silent Crits!!!!!

Hey guys,

So following up on Craig's idea of silent crits......which is (for anyone who wasn't there) where a group of people sit for a period of time with someone's work in silence, and write down anything that comes to mind. This could range from something as simple as how the work makes them feel, to poetry, to HARD CORE critique :) anyways whatever!

I think it's a really great idea as it takes away the pressure of talking on the spot about someone's work, + it allows space for so much more to be said, and in so many different ways/forms. I think we discussed that it would be anonymous as well which is kinda nice.

So........we thought we should get started on this! A really easy way of doing this would be to allocate a time each week (depending on how many participants we get) and to go around to people's studios, as the work is already set up and ready to go!!!!!!.....oooorrrrr we could look into getting the utility room or something similar if people wanted to set up their work in a clean separate space.

So who wnats to be involved????? Let me or Craig know and we will organise the 1st session!.... I'll post this on the blog tooooooo!

See youse :) x
